Four of my favorite anime music videos!
The people who create these compilations of clips from various animes, music, and effects are quite creative. If you're not familiar with it, they're called anime music videos or AMVs for short. They typically spend months working on these projects using professional video editing programs to crank out just a few minutes of AMV brilliance! Some even go to conventions or exhibitions where their work can be judged. It's an interesting world.
These AMVs have been made available by their creators on YouTube. However, I prefer to download the actual video files for a much better viewing experience rather than watching in the browser.
To view on your computer, you'll likely need the VLC player. If you'd prefer to use Windows Media Player (which has gotten a lot better recently), you'll need to install the Combined Community Codec Pack. If you're using Windows 7, you'll need to tell Windows Media Player to use the codecs you just installed instead of the defaults that come with Windows 7. You can use the Win7DSFilterTweaker to do this (see screenshot below for which options to change).
To find the creators of these AMVs on YouTube, check out these channels: ExSphereAMV, Megamom182, and Chiikaboom. Note, there are a wide range of animes and AMVs. Some animes deal with mature situations and concepts, and it follows that some AMVs do too. And now for the AMVs!
