Twitter spam
Spam is everywhere! Spam is annoying, but at least it’s not hard to spot. Somehow they think I won’t get suspicious when a cute girl I don’t know starts following my geeky tweets. Yeah right! What they’re trying to do is get me to follow their tweets.
What to look for in a spam account:
- they’re typically new accounts, no more than a few days old
- some seemingly legitimate tweets that jump from topic to topic without any rhyme or reason
- ads formatted in network marketing speak mixed in with the fake tweets.
If you get any cute followers that you think might be fake, you can block them by clicking on “block” in your list of followers. Here are a few examples of how to spot them:
