Hood to Coast 2011 at Seaside, Oregon

I had a fun time this year. I didn't get to volunteer like I did last year, but I did help out with logistics.

At the beach we discovered a flock of pelicans among the thousands of seagulls! They were quite large compared to the seagulls, and I could see many flying around looking for fish to snatch up.

The weather was just perfect all weekend. A truly amazing time to come to the Oregon coast which is typically cold and cloudy.

So sad and cute at the same time!

Almost every day Lucy lays right here waiting for me to take her for a walk. This time, however, she was waiting/hoping in vain to get some of the chicken cooking in the oven! Being Vegan, I can't eat it either Lucy so I'm right there with ya.

Her ears, wow! They are so big in the last photo. :)

Meet Lucy

She likes to eat grass and chase after butterflies. She doesn't have the best eyesight, but she can hear and smell like superman! She can be stubborn about where she wants to go, and then seconds later be excited about the path I choose. Other than that, she's not annoying and very well behaved. She's always happy to see me, and she illicits an emotional response from just about every girl who sees her..."Oh! What a cute puppy!!" they say. Yeah, she's fully grown...not a puppy. I think it's her ears, they're too big for her head. Some say she looks like a little lion. She's half Pomeranian/Papillion and half Yorkshire Terrier. The Yorky was registered as a full breed so that made Lucy quite expensive ($400), but I'm glad my sister decided to buy her as a puppy and that she ended up living with me and enriching my life.
